CID Arrests Medical Student in Assam: Class 11 Maths Paper Leak Case

Assam’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested 26‑year‑old Mohammad Ashique, a medical student at Nagaon Medical College, in connection with the recent Class 11 mathematics paper leak. Ashique, the son of Sheikh Mohammad Nasiruddin, owner of Bagariguri Advance Academy in Nagaon, was taken into custody under CID PS Case No. 06/25 registered under sections 61(2), 334(2), 112(2), 318(4) and 316(5) of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigators traced a series of UPI transactions and obtained statements from multiple students indicating that Ashique, who also worked as a part‑time tutor at his father’s academy, had provided the leaked examination papers in exchange for payment.

Ashique was presented before a local court on Friday and remanded to police custody pending further interrogation. Authorities say this is not his first run‑in with law enforcement: he previously faced charges in two unrelated cases involving theft and kidnapping.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the Class 11 mathematics exam leak, which had prompted widespread concern among parents and educators across Assam. Investigators continue to probe whether any additional individuals were complicit in the scheme.
