Covid Curfew in Guwahati – Shops closed from 3 pm and curfew starts from 4 pm

Assam News: Assam recorded 2,781 new COVID cases and 34 deaths on Thursday (June 24). Sonitpur topped the list with 2,300 positive cases in the last 10 days from June 15-24, followed by Golaghat with 2,188 cases, Dibrugarh with 1,853 cases and Kamrup (Metro) with 1,772 cases.

The COVID Curfew timings in Guwahati (Kamrup Metro) have been relaxed by two hours from 2 PM to 4 PM. Shops and markets will remain open till 3 pm, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said while announcing the revised SOP on Friday. The new changes will come into effect from Monday, June 28 and will be in force for the entire week.

Curfew relaxation has also been announced for Hailakandi. The new timings will be from 4 pm to 5 am from Monday. Except for Kamrup Metro and Hailakandi, the curfew timings and other restrictions will remain the same for other districts.

 

The minister said that the inter-district movement should be kept suspended and the district administration should strictly implement it.

Vishwanath, Morigaon and Goalpara districts have been declared as containment zones. The Health Minister said that Bokakhat in Golaghat district has also been declared as a containment zone as the number of COVID cases has increased at 247 places in these districts. The state government and health departments will continue to keep a close watch at 4,581 locations across the state to control the further rise in the number of COVID cases.
